Hi, I'm Alexis, a senior software engineer in Toronto, Canada.

I spent nearly five years at Meta on Facebook Reels, where our goal was to grow sessions and revenue. I led the private sharing workstream, improving how users share Reels across Facebook and bringing them back to the app. I also worked on Reposts and the engagement signals behind Reels ranking.

Before Meta, I built products for Joist, Ninja Van, Langdon, and Freelancer.com. That included the invoicing tools contractors use to bill their customers, the APIs behind a logistics platform in Southeast Asia, an early-stage startup's product and infrastructure, and marketplace products where I led an engineering team.

  1. Senior Software Engineer · Meta (Facebook Reels)

    Oct 2021 – Jul 2026

    Remote, Canada

    • Drove launches that added tens of millions of daily shares as lead of the private sharing workstream on Facebook Reels, auditing and prioritizing gaps across FB Lite, link previews, and messaging.
    • Led the server implementation of Reposts, a new interaction type, from idea to experiment, defining the MVP scope and success metrics with product, design, and data science.
    • Cut missing share attribution in Reels ranking signals from 59% to 6%, one of several major gaps I closed, and built AI workflows that catch new gaps automatically.

  2. Senior Full Stack Engineer & Platform Engineer · Joist Software Inc.

    Jul 2019 – Oct 2021

    Toronto, ON, Canada

    • Led the rewrite of the core invoicing flow used by over a million contractors, cutting bugs and letting the team ship paid features much faster.
    • Built and optimized backend microservices, cutting response times about 2x for external services and 10x for internal ones while lowering cloud costs.
    • Introduced infrastructure as code, which became the team's standard way to set up environments.

  3. Software Engineer · Langdon Business Solutions

    • Owned the architecture for rebuilding an early-stage MVP into a scalable product, working directly with the CEO.
    • Built the Angular frontend, Node.js backend, and Docker and Kubernetes platform, and set up CI/CD with automatic feature environments.
    • Built search indexing with Pub/Sub and Elasticsearch, and moved the core data layer to a more scalable database.

  4. Senior Software Engineer · Ninja Van (Ninja Logistics Pte. Ltd.)

    Singapore

    • Built and hardened the backend APIs at the core of the logistics platform, serving millions of requests a day.
    • Led two major API redesigns that took on 10x the load with zero downtime, including one handling over 3 million requests a day for partners.
    • Used Kafka to decouple tightly linked services, improving reliability and making later changes faster.

    • Led an engineering team across two products, working with a product manager and data scientist and mentoring junior engineers.
    • Grew Local Jobs by turning part of the platform's 17 million users into Local Jobs users through new features and UX improvements.
    • Built Freemarket.com, a domain marketplace, with fast search across listings.
